Papermaking is the third largest user of titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is rarely used in low-grade paper due to cost factors. Titanium dioxide must be added to decorative paper, Bible paper and banknotes. Paper using titanium dioxide has good whiteness, high strength, gloss, thin and smooth, and does not penetrate when printing. Under the same conditions, the opacity is better than other whites The pigment is 10 times higher and the weight can be reduced by 15%-30%.

Decorative paper, also called titanium dioxide paper, is mainly used as a raw material for making furniture, floors, wallpapers, etc. For paper with anti-aging requirements, rutile needs to be used. More rutile titanium dioxide is used in high-ash paper. This high-ash paper requires the use of rutile because the hiding power of anatase does not meet the requirements. Anatase titanium dioxide is generally used in low-ash paper, such as Bible paper and banknotes. Bible paper requires the paper to have good opacity, which is generally satisfied by using anatase titanium dioxide. Coinage paper also requires a high opacity. Good opacity, mostly using anatase type too.

In China, the amount of titanium dioxide used in decorative paper is much higher than the other two varieties. This form is determined by my country's consumption level. Due to the large demand for house decoration and furniture, the consumption of decorative paper has gradually increased. According to incomplete statistics, the domestic consumption of titanium dioxide for decorative paper exceeds 30,000 tons per year. The dosage of titanium dioxide in decorative paper reaches 20%-40%. Titanium dioxide accounts for 1%-5% of other papers. As traditional cultural paper manufacturers have transformed into the production of decorative paper, the output of decorative paper has grown rapidly, and the price of decorative paper has shown a downward trend in recent years.

Rutile titanium dioxide paper is used for weather-resistant, high-ash content paper, and anatase type is used for low-ash content paper that does not require high weather resistance.
