In ink production, different types of ink products have different quality requirements for titanium dioxide. Rutile titanium dioxide is generally used in ink production.
1. Oil absorption capacity. With the improvement of printing speed and technology, inks with lower viscosity are needed, and the oil absorption capacity of titanium dioxide becomes the key. Try to reduce the oil absorption amount while keeping the color density unchanged, which will help to prepare the ink with higher viscosity.
2. Particle size and particle size distribution. High-quality titanium dioxide particles have a smooth shape and no edges. The size and shape of titanium dioxide particles are evenly distributed, which has a great influence on the whiteness of titanium dioxide. The size of titanium dioxide particles is between 0.2 and 0.4um, which is equivalent to about half of the visible wavelength. It can obtain high scattering ability and make the color appear whiter.
3. Scattering ability and refractive index. The higher the refractive index of titanium dioxide, the stronger the tinting power, the greater the scattering coefficient, the stronger the tinting power. Because titanium dioxide itself has an obvious crystal structure, its refractive index is larger than that of colorants and its hiding power is better. It is widely used in inks.
